Someone who I am LOVING at the moment is....Felicity Brown
Brown is a designer from the Royal College of Art and has worked
for Mulberry and Lanvin, amongst other famous designers.
She has her own label, and it's honestly one of the most refreshing things I have
seen for a long while. I came across her myself through an internship she was
advertising and she is amazing. (Brix Smith Start used one of her dresses a few weeks
ago on Gok's clothes road show.)
I love her use of texture. Her garments are so intricate and
interesting. I want to see them up close and touch and feel the layers.
The almost 'dip dye'/'hand dyed' effect of the colours creates a fragility and
innocence to the designs, with a real sense of them being hand made.
I get a real sense of African/Tribal vibes from this collection.
I love the placement of her prints. They are almost hints of the prints, making
them subtle yet also very powerful. Her colour choices are quite daring, yet they work
so well together. Especially against the soft whites and creams.
I think she is defiantly a designer to watch out for. Her designs are so innovative
and very new, in a design era where everything seams to be being executed.
Her collection is fresh and exciting and I really want one of those dresses!! hehe
Seriously, I'm on texture/textile overload....I think it is fantastic :)
Have a look on her website:
and check our her other collections.
which is what I'm off to do :) xxx
