Vintage Craft Fair and Fashion Show

On Friday I spent my eve at a lovely bar attending a Vintage Craft Fair & Fashion Show.

My friend Julie Hogan aka 'Patchwork Heart' had a stall there, showcasing her gorgeous textile creations.

Julie Hogan is one of my best friends and she is an amazing textile designer.
She creates all kinds of gorgeous things, from home decorations, wedding favours, clothes, bags,
accessories and her famous 'Jingle JooJoo Dolls'.

"Jingle JooJoo dolls are hand made with love by Julie Hogan. Personalise and choose your very own best friend, name her and track her progress as she comes to life."

Each one is completely unique! You can chose everything from hair colour, outfit, fabrics, shoes, any accessories - they are totally original and a wonderful bespoke gift :)

Jingle JooJoo Dolls are around £30 and can be personalised in so many ways!
Visit my friend Julie Hogans Patchwork Heart Facebook for more photos and enquires :)

The craft fair had some lovely pieces, especially Christmas gifts!

'Alison Loves to Bake' were an amazing cupcake company that attended. I tried the Rasberry Swirl and it was sooo gorgeous, fluffy icing with a rasbery centre. So gorgeous and really popular on the night.

My cupcake!!

After stalls of various crafts and creative bits and bobs, there was a Fashion Show, showcasing vintage pieces, mixed with new creations using vintages fabrics/vintage patterns, and also Rockabilly pieces.

All money raised from the night went to charity, and it was lovely to mingle with various creative and crafty people!! I love these kinds of nights, a few drinks with wonderfully creative ladies and gents!

Rules Of A Creators Life

I came across this today and I absolutely love it.
It makes me laugh because its so very true,
and the rules below,
are rules we creatives sometimes forget to follow.

Kirstie's Vintage Home

I am a HUGE Kirstie Allsopp fan, originally from Relocation, Relocation and other such housing programmes...but then when she did Kirstie's Home made home last year I just fell in love with her!
She is so cute, and she loves crafts and people being thrifty and learning new things.

I love her pretty, feminine and cute sense of style and she seems just so lovely....I want to go and have tea with her and make crafts!!

Kirstie's vintage home is such a lovely series...I have series linked it on Sky haha
I have seen 3 episodes now and Kirstie helps families, re vamp their homes, making
them look more stylish, more personal to the families tastes and reflect their tastes.

She looks at ways of upcycling the families existing belongings to give them a new lease of life, try new crafting/artistic techniques and save money!
She does this all from her vintage home HQ as pictured above....I really wana sit their with her knitting!! haha

I am so happy that she is doing these series about being creative, artistic and thrifty - We need MORE
shows like this on TV!!!

If you are creative or craft minded, please go and watch the series.
Kirstie's Vintage Home is on 8pm on Thursdays on Channel 4.
Or watch them on 40D.
But please go watch!!

Spotlight On: Liz Clements Illustration

Sometimes you come across an Illustrator and you see their work
and the amount of intricacy in it makes you so excited!
You just keep looking finding more and more details,
and are wowed
by their patience and dedication to their art.

When  I came across Liz Clements I felt exactly as above.
Her work is amazing and so full of detail.

This London based illustrator creates various images, mainly women, with very heavy tattoo and nautical influences (two of my faves!!)
Her women have such beautiful faces, often covered in tattoos with beautiful, flowing hair. The detail in the hair alone is amazing.

I love the contrast of edgy poses, hairstyles and tattoos against the doll like round blush and full bright lips.
Being a heavily tattooed girl myself, I love that these gorgeous girls are so feminine and beautiful yet absolutely covered in tattoos.

Her Portraits have gorgeous names like 'Shore Leave', 'Lucky 13' and 'Eye for an Eye'.

I love her range of colour in each illustration, and her detail is so fine, yet every image is bold and such a statement.

She's an artist who I would love to do a portrait of myself and see what magical creation she could come up with! These portraits have so many teeny tiny details, almost telling more of a story about the girl.
I seriously want loads of them to frame around my home!!

Love this redhead...and not just because I have ever so recently joined the red head brigade haha

Liz Clements naturally has her own website: http://www.lizclementsillustration.com/
And of course her etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/LizCIllustration

Please go and check her out, you will not be dissapointed :)
And if anyone wants to buy me anything from her shop for Christmas, well then that
would be swell :)

Moving away from the darkside....

So around a month a go I decided to take the plunge and move away from the dark side.....
I am naturally a brunette, virtually black hair and as much as I have experimented with my hair colours, lengths, textures (You name it I have done it!) I have always come back to my black locks.

This is how my hair has been for the past few years, long and dark and I have loved it to be fair.
But I took the plunge, with the help of a wonderful hairdresser (My boyfriends mother!) and went from this......

...to bright fire red! Now the picture makes the ends look darker, but that's down to bad lighting...my hair is super bright all over...and after living as a red head for a month now, I absolutely love it!!
Super super happy, and guna keep this for a long time :)
Downside is red pillowcases when I go to sleep lol but I can cope with that :)

Oh blog I am sorry you have been sleeping for so long...but you're going to be busy now :)
